Kosmos has won the German games award Deutscher Spielepreis 2020 in both categories: as the best game for families / adults, The Crew by Thomas Sing, which had previously garnered the "Kennerspiel des Jahres" trophy, came out on top. The Deutscher Kinderspielepreis for the best children's game went to Andor Junior by Inka and Markus Brand with the most votes. Organizer Friedhelm Merz Verlag sees the fact that both winners are cooperative games as proof that this type of game is still very much en vogue. Consumers who were in parts reached online and via magazines, more than 300 game clubs, selected journalists and game retailers were called upon to vote in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. During the virtual fair SPIEL.digital (October 22-25) the winners will be presented in detail.

While each participant was only allowed to vote for one children's game, they could nominate up to ten entries for families and adults; these titles then earned different numbers of points through a weighted order. Thus, the following games occupied the ranks 2 to 10: Cartographers by Jordy Adan (2nd place, publisher in German-speaking markets: Pegasus Spiele), Maracaibo by Alexander Pfister (3, Game's Up), Barrage by Tommaso Battista and Simone Luciani (4, Feuerland), Cooper Island by Andreas Odendahl (5, Frosted Games / Pegasus), Glen More II: Chronicles by Matthias Cramer (6, Funtails), Crystal Palace by Carsten Lauber (7, Feuerland), Parks by Henry Audubon (8, Feuerland), Marco Polo II: In the Service of the Khan by Simone Luciani and Daniele Tascini (9, Hans im Glück) as well as Paladins of the West Kingdom by Shem Phillips and S. J. Macdonald (10, Schwerkraft).
