(th)

_____

A few months ago, a jury of experts had selected the Spiel, Kennerspiel and Kinderspiel des Jahres. After that, the Deutscher Spiele Preis (DSP), organized by SPIEL host Friedhelm Merz Verlag, also asked consumers to choose their favorites. The winners have now been announced: Ark Nova by Mathias Wigge (publisher: Feuerland) gathered the most votes for the top DSP award and took first place. Second place went to "Spiel des Jahres" winner Cascadia by Randy Flynn (Kosmos / Flatout Games / AEG). Third place went to Dune Imperium by Paul Dennen (Dire Wolf / Distributor: Asmodee), which had previously been nominated as "Kennerspiel des Jahres" and was now ranked one place ahead of the "Kennerspiel" winner Living Forest by Aske Christiansen (Pegasus Spiele) at the DSP.

Places 5 to 10 went (in this order) to The Red Cathedral (Sheila Santos / Israel Cendrero, Kosmos / Devir Games), Witchstone (Martino Chiacchiera / Dr. Reiner Knizia, R&R Games / Huch!), Beyond the Sun (Dennis K. Chan, Strohmann Games), Scout (Kei Kajino, Oink Games, also "Spiel des Jahres" nominee), Golem (Flaminia Brasini / Virginio Gigli / Simone Luciani, Cranio Creations / Asmodee), and Terraforming Mars - Ares Expedition (Jacob Fryxelius / Nick Little / Sydney Engelstein, Schwerkraft).

The Deutscher Kinderspiele Preis for the best children's game was won with the most votes by Mit Quacks & Co. nach Quedlinburg by Wolfgang Warsch (Schmidt Spiele), which had also made it into the Kinderspiel des Jahres final but ultimately did not garner this award. Here, the rest of the field of participants was not named in more detail.
